![]() HAIL HAIL THE CELTS ARE HERE! The Irish Fiddler has a long history with Glasgow Celtic Football Club. Owner Gerry Murphy first got involved with Celtic several years ago in his former bar O´Casey´s when he noticed the sale of green and white hats going through the roof ! He remembers the days when a sea of young Celtic fans packed the pub and passage way in the summer months singing their hearts out. He used to receive the football results on the BBC world service and as a result he started getting involved with Celtic. He went to his first Celtic match in 1991 to watch Celtic vs Rangers, (the old firm derby,) and has been a complete fanatic ever since even dragging his long suffering wife on a pilgrimage tour from Donegal to Scotland to watch the Hoops. Both Gerry and his son Michael are dedicated Celtic fanatics and both regularly attend most Celtic matches and have recently been to Parkhead on several occasions along with Porto, Valencia, Sevilla, Lyon, Munich and Barcelona to watch the Hoops play. Over the years Gerry's Pubs have received visits from stars like: Pierre van Hooijdonk, Gerry Craney, Paul McStay and most recently from Henrik Larssons parents. At the The Irish Fiddler the atmosphere is better than ever, making one of the best Celtic venues in Tenerife. You can feel the electricity in the air and the crowd usually raises the roof when they score a goal and have even been known to hang out of the lampshades! The walls of The Irish Fiddler have heard The Fields of Athenry thousands of times along with all other great Irish ballads and songs sung with a passion that would make a shiver run down your spine. For extra special celebrations, fans have formed a huddle several times outside the bar stopping the traffic and especially the local green buses- definitely an experience not to be missed by any Celtic fan! |
